Bass Fishing
For me, there is nothing that I can think of that would take the place of relaxing on the water bass fishing. As far as I'm concerned fishing is the number one sport over all others, and the best of the fishing world is bass fishing. There is just no comparison to anything else I know, and you would have a hard time convincing me otherwise.
Doesn't matter what name you give it, bass fishing is an enigma of sorts; it is a wonderful way to relax and let your cares float away, but it is also filled with excitement and exhilaration especially when you are fighting a largemouth on the end of your line. You have to be one step ahead of the fish all the time and be aware of your surroundings, but at the same time be able to hunker down and wait for the fish to see your bait and come calling.
Bass fishing can be a black and white experience for some people, because some folks just absolutely love everything about it the very first time they ventured out pole in hand and never looked back, whereas there are others who wouldn't waste their time waiting for a fish to make up its mind while sitting or standing in water surrounded by mosquitoes. You either love it or hate it, and either way, the passion is equally as great on both sides of the equation.
And if you are a beginner in the bass fishing game, there is a lot for you to learn and you will find out just how many sides bass fishing can have as you begin to appreciate just how varied the sport can be. But for sheer wild abandon and out and out whooping excitement, there is absolutely nothing like it when you hook a fighting largemouth bass on your line and it is a contest of wills between you and that fish as he tears up the lake or the river. Wow...you just can't beat it in my book.
And that makes me think of something else; while you are testing the bass fishing waters, you might want to think what type of bass fishing you would want to spend more time partaking of; do you prefer largemouth bass fishing, or smallmouth, or maybe striped bass. The techniques differ a little from fish to fish type, but that doesn't mean you have to narrow your scope into just one area; lots of bass fisherman tend to stick with one kind of bass, that's all. If is to your liking, you can cross back and forth between the bass fishing types and not really specialize in any one, just come what may and enjoy the sport.
Then, don't forget, there are different forms of bass fishing itself too. Some folks prefer surf casting to fly fishing, or stream fishing or fishing from a boat. Whatever appeals to you, bass fishing has a niche for you that will certainly give you many hours of pleasure.
Even though bass fishermen are divided on their preferences on the types of bass they fish for, or the methods of bass fishing they like the most; the most preferred method for bass fishing above all the others is fishing from a boat. There is something so peaceful about sitting in a small boat on a lake with nature all around you and then the excitement as the lake surface erupts with the thrashing of a fish. If you think you would like to try bass fishing from a boat but are nervous about trying it for the first time, there a bass fishing parties you can join that will take you out and see if you like that type of fishing.
For the beginning bass fisherman, it is a good idea to get your feet wet by joining a bass fishing party whose members can help you learn the ropes and give you advice and tips as you progress. Most bass fishermen are very friendly and want to help, and you will find much camraderie in the group as well as finding it a wonderful learning experience. Nothing beats learning the sport of bass fishing the correct way from the very start, and nothing in the world can beat a day of bass fishing either communing alone with Mother Nature and the bass in the lake, or enjoying the company of like minded fishermen who love the sport as much as you do and can't think of another place they would rather be.
